Welcome
PRESIDENT'S STATMENT

In a relatively short lapse of time, the Internet has become an essential instrument of the today’s society. The consciousness of the social, economic and policy impact of Internet on the society has led to a broad consensus to build a information society, and carried the question of Internet Governance in the lime light.

Today more than ever, the extraordinary power of ICTs does not make the shade of any doubt. Indeed, these technologies offer essential tools to improve standards of living and to strengthen the dialogue of cultures, peace and democracy in the world.

The basis of the ISOC Congolese’s chapter was the proven report that our country is only integrated very slowly in the dynamic of the information society, and makes only a little effort to create then to extend the benefits of Internet to all, specially the weak and vulnerable ones who were remained silent for a long time.

The ISOC-CG which considers himself as the ‘arm of the ISOC in Congo' is a local instrument at the disposal of all to help, inform, explain and convince all stakeholders on the real power which represent ICTs, not as an end in itself, but like a value-added to support efforts of development. The ISOC-CG should also encourage decision makers to extend the Internet network all over the country and to resolutely get involved in the development of an open, operational and stable Internet, then to really take part in the current dynamics of Internet governance.

I am convinced that when all the stakeholders put their hands together, without duplication of the efforts, we will arrive to enjoy the potential plenitude that Internet offers. In this way, the Congo and the world will be better places, and our country could finally weighs in the world’s businesses and the business world.
